I have returned safely from the Holy Land. Thank you for your prayers.

I cannot wait to share my pictures and stories with the students next year as we learn all about Jesus' life and prepare for the sacraments!

Prayer Request

My dear school families,

I have a prayer request for you. Please keep me and a group from my church in your prayers as we travel to the Holy Land for a pilgrimage. I will be praying for all of you while I'm there, especially on the day we visit the Church of St. Ann! (I will also be sure to share some photos in the fall.)

The prayers mean a lot. Thank you so much!

Thank you to all students and families who attended the art show! Miss Longton and Miss Snyder did a fantastic job organizing all of the student art projects. It was wonderful to see the students share their work with you!

The year is not over yet... This past week we learned about Andy Warhol and his art styles. I showed the kids a couple of pictures I made in his style, along with some photos on the internet, and then they set to work. Some still need to finish next week!

Finally, you may have seen a recent math project come home in your child's folder. We learned about shape transformations, more specifically, translations, rotations, and reflections.

This visual, along with another activity on Friday helped us remember these big vocabulary terms:

Translation = slide (hexagon with paper clip)
Rotation = turn (pentagon with brad)
Reflection = flip (triangle with tape)

Thank you for bringing your students to school on time, sending snacks, getting them to bed early, and encouraging them to do their best.

We'll be back to a "normal" week next week, and then the following week (March 17-21) is spring break.

Dear Students and Families of Second Grade,

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as the summer vacation begins. I am at Notre Dame, and I have already offered many prayers for you at the Grotto. Be safe, have fun, remember to go to Mass, and read every day! I miss you.

The 2012-2013 school year is officially over! It is hard to believe summer vacation has started.

I want to thank all of my students and their families for a wonderful year. We learned a lot together and had a lot of fun.
